Soccer training – Goalkeeping - Exercise:

Previous exerciseDouble JumpNext exercise

Soccer drill procedure

In this drill, we let the goalkeeper do double jumps. The difficulty of this is that the goalkeeper must overcome a small movement backwards, before getting up and saving the ball.

At this point I would like to highlight the fact that it is the goalkeeper who is training here. On practice fields you can sometimes see a thrower who is proud of his goals. The goalkeeper is the one who should be successful. Make sure to throw the ball in a way that it can be caught.

Description

The goalkeeper moves from the right goalpost to the cone, touches it and then catches the ball that is thrown at him mid-jump. The moment he touches the cone is the moment the ball should be thrown. After he has caught the ball, the goalkeeper passes it back to the thrower. The second throw should be long and high towards the far-away corner of the goal. The goalkeeper also catches this ball in the air, runs to the starting position and passes the ball back to the thrower. The sequence then starts again.

Variations

- The goalkeeper rolls the ball back to the thrower.
- Same sequence on the other side of the goal.

Soccer coach tips

- The goalkeeper should always secure the ball. There must be enough time for that.
